Development Of A Country Environmental Profile (CEP) For Somalia
The main objective this consultancy is to prepare a detailed Country Environmental Profile (CEP) to identify and assess climate change issues. This is done to accelerate adoption and implementation of sustainable solutions under international EU cooperation and policies support to effectively address the threats of environmental crisis, climate change and Covid-19 through knowledge generation, capacity building and policy frameworks development to quicken recovery processes in the strategic sectors to benefit humanitarian-development-peace nexus.

The main objective this consultancy is to prepare a detailed Country Environmental Profile (CEP) to identify and assess environmental and climate change issues in order to accelerate adoption and implementation of sustainable solutions under international EU cooperation and policies support to effectively address the threats of environmental crisis, climate change and Covid-19 through knowledge generation, capacity building and policy frameworks development to quicken recovery processes in the strategic sectors to benefit humanitarian-development-peace nexus.
Implememntation
HPRD will adopt a mixed method study approaches comprising of comprehensive review of relevant documents and consultative and liaison meetings with relevant stakeholders to identify key environmental, climate change and green economy concerns in Somalia. The secondary data review will cover all relevant existing state of the environment reports, relevant project documents and academic publications, policies, laws, regulatory frameworks and capacities on environment and climate change. Scenario prediction, workshop analysis, sites visiting, case studies, stakeholders’ engagements, and regular consultative meeting with client will also be used to collect and enrich data to support strategic interventions and decision-making processes including development, conservation and adaptation plans. Other approaches will involve conducting the study to collect primary data using qualitative and quantitative methods which will include; conducting questionnaire survey, key informant interviews and structured key informant interviews. Our design will also incorporate gender and diversity values of inclusion by involvement of women in the study, analysis along gender roles, inclusion of various population group in data targeting including minorities, pregnant and lactating women, children, disabled, women etc. Implementation area: Somalia.
